23rd January 2005 - Away 10.30am KO vs. Caister Roma Result - Won 3-2 Mutford put the Shield exit behind them to carve out a good performance against a resilient Roma side. Mutford went in front when a Roma defender was adjudged to have passed back to his own keeper. Jason stepped up to take the free-kick with only one thing on his mind, and coolly dispatched a pin point free-kick that the keeper could only get finger-tips to. "The Goal Machine" Mikey soon had Mutford further ahead after some good work down the left and an excellent through-ball set him free to smash the ball home. Half-time 0-2 In the second half Mutford had several chanced to put the game out of Roma's reach, a mazy run reminiscent of Giggs by Smiffy who took the ball past 2 Roma defenders and a pin-point cross to Josh was shot onto the bar. Then Roma brought themselves back into the game with a good goal. Mutford soon restored their lead when Wheels powered into the box and slotted the ball to the 'keepers left. Roma didn't left their heads dropped and came back again with a header over that Harrison could only get his finger tips to. This took the game to a nail biting end with all eyes from the Mutford faithful on their watches. Mark Smith said after the game, "This was a very enjoyable match to watch, played with great spirit from both clubs. I'm pleased for our lads, because we really needed the result after our disappointment last week in the shield". Man of the Match.
