13th March 2005 - Away 11.30am KO vs. Gorleston Rangers C Result - Lost 3-1 An admiral performance against a top quality side saw Mutford lose 3-1, but the game could have gone either way. Gorleston started much the brighter with some quality football, and they scored the first goal when a striker beat the off-side trap to burst through from the half way line, Josh got back well and looked to have done enough in forcing him wide, but his excellent finish into the far right hand corner eluded Harrison, in goal. This didn't deter Mutford however, and were back on terms when Jordan P smartly turned home a cross to score in off the post. It was Mutford who were calling the shots towards the end of the half and it was only good defending by Gorleston that kept them at bay. Jordan thought he had put Mutford in front with another good finish, but the goal was rightly adjudged to be off side. Half Time 1-1 At half time the Mutford Manager demanded more of the same, "win are matching one of the best teams in our division. The have only been beat by us and Aztec in the league this season, so lets keep the pressure on" he said. But is was Gorleston who score the next goal, shortly after half time to put them back in the driving seat. Mutford were appealing for a penalty soon after when Mikey was clean through. The ball bounced up and he headed over the 'keeper who ran into Mikey knocking him to the ground. This was adjudged accidental and the ball was cleared. The game was put beyond Mutford's reach when Gorleston scored their 3rd goal and a little later the ref blew for full-time with the score at 3-1 to Gorleston. The Mutford Manager Paul Rose was quite upbeat with the result and said "I am pleased with our performance. Gorleston are a well organised team. They have only been beat twice in the league this year and did very well in the cup, so it's nice to give them a good game. We beat them at home and we gave them a good game here". Man-of-the-match was given to Jordan P, he was a constant menace to the Gorleston defence and scored a great goal. Man of the Match - Jordan P.
