4th April 2005 - Home 1.30pm KO vs. Bungay A Result - Won 7-1 A great end to the season for Mutford as they came from behind to secure a 7-1 victory over Bungay A. With the unavailability of Jervy and Josh for today's game Mutford switched to a 3-5-2 formation with Harrison in goal, Jack, Phil and Joe in defence with a midfield of Smiffy, Clabby, Jason, Johnny and Jordan W, with Mikey and Jordan P up-front and Wheels later to play a double role in the game. The game kicked off with Mutford apparently struggling to get to grips with the new formation when a great through ball released a Bungay striker to power the ball over Harrison and put the visitors ahead. Shortly after, a similar attack nearly resulted in another goal for Bungay, but luckily for Mutford, the chance was not taken. This let-off sparked Mutford into life and it was Jordan P who brought the home side back on level terms with a stunning hooked strike that went in off the post. Shortly after this, the lethal Mikey latched on to some neat passing to clinically finish and give Mutford a 2-1 lead as Mutford were now adapting well to the 3-5-2 formation. Mutford were certainly taking the game to Bungay when Clabby drove in a shot as a loose ball came out to him following a corner to make it 3-1. Wheels came on to replace the injured Jason and Mikey made it 4-1 with another neat finish. Then Just before half-time Clabby was again on target with an exquisite lob over the Bungay Keeper. Half-time 5-1 At half-time Harrison came off with a sore foot to be replaced by Wheels in goal and Jason returned to take up his mid-field role having recovered from his bruised knee. Mutford reverted to their normal 4-4-2 to try and shut Bungay out as Bungay now had the slope in their favour. Mutford continued to play good football in the 2nd half and went close several times but were not able to capitalise on their possession. Bungay also had 2 or 3 chances to reduce the scoreline, but were unable to convert their chances. The next goal did finally come. A freekick outside the box was smashed in by Jason taking a slight deflection on route. Jason limped off shortly after to be replaced by Harrison, who had recovered from his earlier injury to take up an outfield position in mid-field. Mutford pressed again and fierce shot from Johnny looked to be a goal all the way but came back off the up-right. Smiffy scored the last goal of the afternoon with a cool left-foot strike after being played in from midfield and seal a 7-1 victory for Mutford. After the game Mutford Manager Paul Rose said "We have had a wonderful season and the last 2 matches had put the icing on the cake. Last weeks 8-0 win over Waveney and this 7-1 victory shows what a good team we have become". Praise went out to all the lads for this performance and particularly Jordan W, who's first half midfield performance was his best so far in a Mutford shirt and he was rightly awarded Man of the Match.
