9th January 2005 - Home 11.30am KO vs. Hempnall Result - Lost 6-0 Mutford lost their second home match of the season to a well organised and hard working Hempnall side. The match appeared tight for the majority of the first half, both sides battling hard for the upper hand. Hempnall's back four looked very settled and their communication was excellent as they played the off side game a treat. As half time approached the scores were still locked as Hempnall forced a corner. An excellent delivery found a purple shirt and glancing header put the visitors in front. This had a greater effect on the home side than it should have and two further goals followed effectively finishing the game as a contest. Half-time 0-3 The second half saw Mutford playing more of their passing game but gain found the visitors well organised and resilient. Hempnall scored three further goals in the second half to underline their quality. Although Mutford battled right to the end they were unable to unlock the Hempnall back four despite creating several chances towards the end of the game. Harrison in the Mutford goal was man of the match and produced several good saves and as always was brave when racing from his goal. A disappointing result for Mutford who have been soundly beaten home and away by Hempnall this season, Paul Rose said after the game, "This was a tough game but I thought we would be far more competitive than we were. I also thought we looked unfit after Christmas, but the same applied to them in terms of a layoff. They have beaten us by six goals on two occasions this season and are a very good side. This is us realistically out of the promotion race as I don't feel that Hempnall, Gorleston C and Aztec will drop many points, but this is a fantastic league to play in and I am enjoying it very much, even after today's result". Man of the Match . "Safe Hands" Harrison.
