19th September 2004 - Home 1.00pm KO vs. Waveney B Result - Won 5-3 A penalty, a disallowed goal and a hat-trick, and still Mutford held on to their 100% league record in an incident filled game at The Dell. The game started with Mutford down to the bare bones of their squad with illness to Brad S and family commitments to Joe. Dave was a major injury doubt before the game with a thigh injury but bravely declared himself fit at the start. The game kicked off with Mutford straight into their passing game and soon opened the scoring with Mikey opening his account with a low shot inside the keepers post. Shortly after this the excellent Mikey soon added a second with a well taken right foot effort to put Mutford two up, and Mikey confirmed his class with a long range effort into the top corner to complete his hat-trick. Waveney then scored a goal which was hotly disputed by the Mutford defence as being offside. Mutford then brought on the powerhouse that is Wheels who soon restored Mutford's 3 goal advantage. Half time score Mutford 4 Waveney 1. At halftime David finally had to give in to his injury which meant Mutford were then down to their bare 11 and Johnny playing centre half. The second half started Mutford again seemed to switch off and Waveney soon reduced the lead to two goals. Then from a Waveney corner Sam handballed and a penalty was given. The spot kick was drilled low and hard only for Harrison to save well. Mutford continued to struggle and Waveney further reduced the gap with a scrabbled effort. Wheels then went on a run and fired a shot that for all the world looked a goal only for the keeper to pull off a great save. With ten minutes still remaining it looked like Mutford were struggling to make it to the finish line. Then a free kick was awarded to Waveney midway inside the Mutford half, Jordan S took an almighty swing, the shot was blocked only for James to force the ball home for what appeared to be an equaliser, but the linesman had his flag raised for off side. The game was then made safe when Jordan P ghosted in and slotted home from close range and give Mutford a two goal cushion.
