8th January 2006 - Away 10.30pm KO vs. Freethorpe

Won 4-2

A well spirited match saw Mutford twice come from behind to win away 4-2 at Freethorpe.

Mutford lined up with Harrison in Goal. Joe, James and Jack in defence. In midfield were Josh, Smiffy, Harley and Josh2 (making his debut) with a front two of Jordan and Mikey with Jason playing just behind.

It was a fairly evenly balanced first half with Freethorpe possibly shading the contest when they went 1 up. A great cross from the left over Harrison and volleyed in at the far post.

Mutford then hit back after good work down the right by Mikey, he fed the ball into Jordan's path who made no mistake slotting passed the 'keeper.

Freethorpe again went in front after Harrison could only parry a shot into the path of a Freethorpe striker.

On the stroke of half time, from a Smiffy pass, Jordan found himself enough space for a snap shot which crept in passed the unlucky Freethorpe 'keeper.

Half Time 2-2.

Mutford re-shuffled at half time with Jason coming off injured. The defence also changed with Jack moving into the centre and James playing right back.

For the first time in the game, Mutford went ahead when Josh broke through the Freethorpe defence to fire low into the right hand corner of the goal.

Mutford were having a purple patch. The defence looked solid and the midfield were on fire. Mikey was unlucky not to scores his obligatory goal when he hit the outside of the post.

Just as Freethorpe were pressing for an equaliser, Smiffy found Jordan with a cross/shot and he rounded the game off with his hatrick.

After the game Manager Paul said "It was a great second half for us, we played with great commitment and effort. Joe, Jack and James held great shape in defence, Smiffy and Harley give the midfield am extra dimension and the two Josh's worked the wings well. Mikeys movement was excellent (as usual) and Jordan did what he does best (score goals). We had 11 candidates for Man of the Match so John can choose (bottled it again)".

John gave Man of the Match to Jordan for his great hatrick.

Man of the Match - Jordan.
