26th March 2006 - Away 10.30am KO vs. Gorleston Rangers A Result - Won 5-1 Mutford finished the season on a high with a 5-1 victory over Gorleston Rangers A. After late call-offs Mutford played the game with10 men with Harrison in goal, Josh2, Jack, Phil and Josh in defence. Smiffy, Jason and Harley were in midfield with Mikey and Jonny in attack. Mutford started the brighter and really should have been ahead before Gorleston scored with a high shot over Harrison giving the home side the lead. Being a goal down didn't seem to panic Mutford as they pressed for an equaliser. Mikey came close with a header that looped across the face of the goal and went just wide. Captain Phil put Mutford on terms with a long range strike that swirled wickedly in the wind to deceive the unfortunate Rangers 'keeper. Things got even better for Mutford just before half time when pressure from Mikey lead to a Jonny shot that was well saved by the 'keeper only to fall to Harley to prod home. Half Time 1-2 Mutford came out for the second half brimming with confidence and with the help of a strong wind kept Rangers pinned in their half for most of the next 35 minutes. Mikey volleyed the visitors further ahead after good work from Harley down the right resulted in his cross/shot falling to Mikey to smash home. Smiffy made it 4-1 with a shot from the edge of the box and Phil rounded off a great display with a high shot very similar to the first rangers goal. Man-of-the-match went to Jason whose determination and new found speed saw him bolster the energetic midfield. Afterwards manager Paul said "It was a faultless display. Every boy played well and really put everything into the match". Man of the Match - Jason.
