29th January 2006 - Away 2.00pm KO vs. Gorleston Rangers B

Result - Lost 3-1

Mutford had the lions share of possession but couldn't turn possession into goals and were punished by 2 counter-attacks in the second half.

Mutford started with10 men with Harrison in goal, Jack, Phil and James in defence. Josh Smiffy, Jason and Harley were in midfield with Josh2 and Mikey in attack.

Both teams struggled to create any clear cut goal scoring chances, but it was the home side who went ahead with their first corner of the match. The ball was swung in from the left and fell to the feet of a Rangers player who gave Harrison no chance with his shot into the left hand side of the net.

Joe arrived to give Mutford the full compliment 10 minutes before half time, but the home team kept their noses in front going in to half time.

Half Time 1-0

The second Half started brightly as Mutford pushed for an equalizer. Mutford made the breakthrough when Phil played a long ball through for Mikey to run in 1-on-1 with the 'keeper and he slotted the ball home to the 'Keepers right.

For a while after the Mutford equaliser it was all one way traffic and again Mikey went through on goal only to see his effort hit the right hand post and cleared to safety. It only seemed a matter of time before Mutford scored again.

But Rangers hadn't read the script and with a counter-attack they opened up the Mutford defence, Harrison initially pulled off a great save only to see the ball fall to an unmarked Rangers player who scored into the left hand side of the goal.

Mutford again had to try and come from behind, but as they pushed forward they were again punished by a Rangers counter attack and were finished off by a clinical shot passed Harrison into the right hand corner of the goal. Harrison, despite conceding 3 goals had had a very good game along with Harley, both Joshs, Phil and Smiffy.

Man-of-the-match went to Mikey whose movement on and off the ball again was exceptional.

Man of the Match - Mikey.
