23rd October 2005 - Away 10.30am KO vs. Waveney B Won 6-0 A much more organised and hard working team ethic resulted in an improved performance following 2 disappointing matches and saw Mutford win by 6 goals away to Waveney. Mutford lined up with Harrison in Goal. Smiffy, Phil, Jack and Jervy in defence. In midfield was James (making his debut and replacing holiday-making Jason), Josh and Jonny. AJ played just behind the front two of Jordan and Mikey. Waveney had the first effort of the game with a shot just over Harrisons bar. Mutford were playing good football and deserved to go in front when Mikey latched onto a through ball and made no mistake with his finish. Jordan soon doubled the lead after he went through and poked the ball under the advancing 'keeper. Mutford then went further ahead with a typical AJ lob over the 'keeper and then a Josh shot into the top left hand corner following good work down the right by Jonny made it 4. At the other end Harrison just did enough to stop a Waveney strike on goal with James eventually clearing off the line. James then came close to scoring on his debut with a rasping shot, unfortunately, straight at the 'keeper. Half Time 0-4. Mutford started the second half under instruction for more of the same from the Assistant Manager Mark (covering for Paul, who was on a scouting mission in Lanzarote). It took quite some time to breakdown the Waveney defence. But Mutford were keeping the ball in the Waveney half and earned themselves plenty of corners and with good deliveries and variety from AJ, Jonny and James the breakthrough was on the cards and Phil obliged with a great header from a Jonny corner to make it 5-0. Mutford followed this with a great strike from Jordan for his 2nd of the game. Jordan was unlucky not grab a hattrick but was denied by a good save from the Waveney 'keeper and was unfortunate on other occasions. After the game Assistant Manager Mark said "It was a well deserved victory, with the boys doing every that had been asked of them. We had changed a number of positions following recent poor performances and it worked really well. I was particularly pleased with James's debut. He has been working hard in training and he grasped his opportunity with both hands and played extremely well in midfield. Smiffy and Josh were interchanging well and Jack played very well alongside the effervescent Phil. It's hard to leave anyone out when stating the positives. Jervy played well and won some strong tackles and AJ worked hard in the centre and scored a brilliant goal. Mikey, as always worked very hard and showed some great touches and Jordan always made a nuisance of himself. I awarded Man-of-the-match to Jonny, who caused all sorts of problems to the Waveney defence with his runs. he was always prepared to take players on and his set play delivery was top draw". Man of the Match - Jonny.
