20th November 2005 - Home 12.15pm KO vs. Gorleston Rangers A Result - Won 1-0 2 totally committed teams playing cup-tie like football gave a real entertaining performance in which Mutford won with the only goal of the game. Mutford had Jordan and Jervy back from illness and started with Harrison in goal, Jervy, Jack, Phil and Joe in defence. James, Jason, Smiffy and Josh in midfield with Mikey and Jonny up front. The first half was a cagey affair with both teams playing with with a lot of passion, but little to show in the way of goal scoring opportunities. What turned out to be the winning goal was scored by Phil after a Jason Corner found its way to Phil, just right of the penalty spot. He smartly turned and fired in off the underside of the crossbar. Half Time 1-0. The second half was a very physical games with both sides totally committed to every tackle and chances again were at a premium. Gorleston had a couple of efforts that were dealt with by Harrison and Phil was unlucky not to get his second when he shot into the side netting. But both defences were playing well and not allowing the strikers too many chances. After the game Paul said "It was very pleasing to win this sort of game. We battled really hard and everyone put in good performances". Man of the match went to James, not only for his performance today, but for the way he had settled into the side after his recent signing.
