26th February 2006 - Home 10.30am KO vs. SC Rangers

Lost 6-3

Mutford's last home game of the season and probably last game ever at Dell Road, saw them lose 6-3 in a physical encounter with SC Rangers and slip to 6th in the league.

Mutford lined up with James in Goal. Josh2, Harley, Phil and Joe in defence. The midfield consisted of Jonny (playing his first match since picking up an injury against Bungay A on 11th December last year), Smiffy and Jason. Jordan, Josh and Mikey played up front completing the 4-3-3 formation.

Mutford started brightly and went close when a Jordan strike was superbly saved by the Rangers 'Keeper. Moments later Mutford did go ahead when a Phil freekick was deflected past the helpless Rangers 'Keeper.

Rangers equalised and then went ahead with 2 similar strikes over James in the Mutford Goal. A lapse in the makeshift Mutford defence allowed Rangers to extend their lead to 3-1 before half time.

Half Time 1-3.

The second half saw the physical sides of both teams as they battled hard for the victory.

Rangers went further in front with a good finish into James's right hand corner and then again with an almost identical finish as the Mutford defence were caught sleeping.

Jordan brought the scores to 5-2 with a clinical penalty kick after Smiffy had been caught by a trailing arm in the face. 

A further goal from each side, with the Mutford goal smartly finished by the hardworking Mikey finished the game with a score line of 6-3 to rangers.

After the game, Mutford's Assistant Manager Mark said "It was a hard game, a bit of a battle and we showed good character and discipline".

Man of the match went to Jonny, who was returning for his first match in 11 weeks and displayed great skill and vision.
