16th October 2005 - Home 11.30am KO vs. St. Benets Wasps A Result - Lost 3-0 A disappointing display led to Mutford's first loss of the season at home. A game in which a lack lustre performance from Mutford saw St. Benets win by 3 goals with a solid performance. Mutford started well but rarely troubled Luke in the Wasps goal and the game had been pretty even when Wasps made the breakthrough. I long shot into the left hand corner, Harrison got down well but then seemed to take his eye off the ball and was unable push it round the post. Mikey was unlucky not to bring the scores level when he shot wide of the advancing 'keeper just before half time. Half Time 0-1. In the second half, Mutford again struggled to get their passing game together and fell into deeper water when, with a high shot that Harrison was unlucky not to punch clear, Wasps went 2-0 in front. The best goal of the game came just before the end, when a great shot into the far corner gave Harrison no chance, and seal the win 3-0 to St Benets. Afterwards manager Paul said "There were some disappointing performances from some of the lads but despite the loss there were positives to be taken from the performances of Jack, Phil, Johnny and Smiffy. Johnny had worked into some good positions but the pass too often never reached him. Mikey worked hard to try and make things happen. Man of the match went to Smiffy, who again covered the injured Joe admirably". Man of the Match - Smiffy.
